Nearly 25% of Americans Eat at Least One Piece of Candy a Day

This is the season of gifts. From Mother’s Day to graduations for both high school and college, there are many times when it is important to find the perfect gift idea. Mom’s my like flowers and candy, but there are also many moms who would prefer an afternoon in the garden. And while there are many times when cash is the gift that graduates want most, there are other times when thank you wrapped candies or other sweet treats are more appropriate. They can, however, purchase a bulk order of thank you wrapped candies or other kinds of personalized candies and divide those sweet treats among the many people whose parties they will attend.

It may not surprise you to know that Americans over 18 years of age consume 65% of the candy which is produced each year. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that wedding candy bars are so popular and why there are many adult parties that have a sweet table that features old fashioned candy favorites.
The latest research indicates that the average American eats nearly 25 pounds of candy every year. Of this amount, about 50% of that candy comes from the 51 chocolate bars that Americans eat every year. And while milk chocolate, a popular form of candy for bars, includes 10% to 20% cocoa solids including cocoa butter and cocoa, as well as more than 12% milk solids.
